A serious traffic accident occurred in Upper Bavaria early on Saturday morning.
Three people were injured in a head-on collision between an SUV and a pickup truck.
Bad Reichenhall - A serious traffic accident occurred early on Saturday morning, February 24th, around 4:40 a.m. at the Gabler junction on the grinder from the B20 to Piding.
An Audi SUV and a Mercedes pickup truck collided head-on, reports the Bavarian Red Cross.
According to initial assessments, the 52-year-old driver of the van from Lower Austria was seriously injured, while the 27-year-old driver of the SUV from Salzburg and his 24-year-old passenger from the district only suffered minor injuries.
According to police, the SUV driver crossed into the oncoming lane with one per mille of alcohol in his blood.

The Reichenhall police determined that the 27-year-old from Piding wanted to drive from the B20 onto the B21 in the direction of Salzburg.
However, in a long right-hand bend, he ended up on the left side and rammed the oncoming pickup truck.
The latter was so badly deformed that the 52-year-old driver was trapped and seriously injured in his legs.
Shortly before the Austrian border, an Audi and a Mercedes collided with each other.

The Traunstein control center sent the Bad Reichenhall and Marzoll volunteer fire departments, the technical advisor from the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and the Red Cross to the scene of the accident with two ambulances, an emergency doctor and the rescue service operations manager.
The seriously injured 52-year-old was taken to the Salzburg accident hospital, the two slightly injured young men were transported to the Bad Reichenhall district clinic.

Audi driver under the influence of alcohol: driver's license confiscated
The Reichenhall police smelled alcohol on site from the 27-year-old Audi driver and a test showed a value of 1 per mille.
A blood sample was then ordered, the driver's license was confiscated and criminal proceedings were initiated for endangering road traffic.

Both vehicles had to be towed.
