“S*exe”
,
“vi01ences”
,
“le$bian”
,
“s€in”
… On social networks, we have seen the appearance for over a year of a new form of language with modified words and symbols used to through emojis to discuss taboo subjects.
The
“sunflower”
emoji has, for example, been used many times on TikTok to talk about the war in Ukraine.
Likewise, Internet users used the
“carrot”
emoji to designate the word
“vaccine”
in order to list the side effects of the Covid-19 vaccine.
This linguistic ruse is also taken up by sex workers, long censored by the moderation systems of social networks, who refer to themselves as
“accountants”
and who use the
“corn”
emoji to replace the taboo word
“porn”
.
Many users use the phrase
"nip nops"
rather than
"nipples"
, and instead of
"sex"
, some will write
"seggs"
or
"segs"
.
This last word has almost entered common slang.
