Offenburg – “Giovanni Zarrella presents: 50 Years of Roland Kaiser” was recorded last year – but on February 24, 2024, the hit event finally ran on free TV.
And that's where it gets more than emotional.
It's not just Roland Kaiser (71) himself who is in tears - singer Mary Roos (75) also can't help but cry when she visits.

The reason for this is a painful memory of times gone by.

Immediately before Mary Roos' appearance, Roland Kaiser's lung disease is also mentioned in an clip.
He kept this out of the public eye for a long time, but at some point he no longer wanted to keep it a secret.
During the difficult time, his friends were also very worried about the pop star - including Mary Roos.
“I just saw the film – where we met again after a long time.
I can’t even think about it,” she says in a shaky voice, fighting back tears.
Then she continues her memories of that time: “I remember you called me and said you had an operation in two days.
And now I saw the pictures again – terrible.
I made a pact with God and said: Please, please, let him get well again." Fortunately, there is no longer any reason to worry - because Roland survived the operation well.
“It happened,” says Mary Roos happily after bursting into tears, meaning: Roland got well again.

“Like a sister”: That’s how close Mary Roos and Roland Kaiser are
Roland Kaiser himself also emphasizes that Mary Roos plays an important role in his life and professional career. When asked by Giovanni Zarrella, the 71-year-old explains why the two's friendship is so special.
“We toured together 45 years ago.
I learned a lot from her, she has incredible experience and helped me incredibly at the beginning.
“She also washed my head sometimes,” he remembers.
He even confirms that Mary Roos is “like a sister” to him.
