Kirchheim - After Maximilian Böltl (CSU) was elected as a direct candidate for the Munich-Land-Nord constituency in the state elections in the fall, it was clear that Kirchheim needed a new mayor.
In the past few weeks and months, Stephan Keck (SPD) has been in charge of official business as Second Mayor.
Whether he can continue to sit in the town hall chair will be decided on Sunday in the mayoral election.
His challenger is Christian Zenner (Greens).
The two recently answered questions from citizens at a panel discussion.
CSU supports SPD candidate Stephan Keck in the mayoral election in Kirchheim
Stephan Keck (59) is politically experienced and well-known locally.
He grew up in Kirchheim, is married, has two daughters and four grandchildren.
He has been on the local council since 2002, and in the last local elections in 2020 he received the most votes of all local council candidates and was then elected second mayor.
It was a small sensation when former rival Maximilian Böltl proposed Keck as his successor in the mayor's office.
The CSU Kirchheim also supports the SPD member.
She has decided not to have her own candidate.
Keck wants to continue and complete many projects in the spirit of his predecessor Böltl, but also bring in his own aspects: “Not only do we have to keep adding new things, we have to protect the old stock and digest the many new residents - in schools, daycare centers, clubs, the infrastructure.
I don’t want to use force to enforce anything on the local council, but rather rely on dialogue and joint decisions.”
Christian Zenner's father founded a local Green Party association
Christian Zenner has been sitting on the local council for the Greens since 2020; his father founded the local Greens association.
He is 36 years old, grew up in Heimstetten and spent his childhood on Watzmannstrasse.
He and his wife have two daughters and he has been playing for SpVgg Heimstetten 02 for twelve years, where he sits on the board.
After completing his training as a biology laboratory technician in a veterinary clinic, Zenner decided to study veterinary medicine at the LMU.
“Studying was surprisingly easy for me: anatomy, physiology, chemistry, bacteriology – I had already learned many things during my training.” Today, the veterinarian, who has a doctorate, works as a scientist at the TUM in Weihenstephan.
