The BRK offers graffiti artists or painters an opportunity to immortalize themselves on a large area: The aid organization is looking for an artist to beautify the staircase as part of a competition.

Until Easter we have to present ideas.

Freising

– The staircase in the new building of the BRK home on Rotkreuzstrasse in Freising still looks bare and boring with its high white walls.

But that is about to change: works of art will soon be adorning the walls.

As part of a competition, the BRK is looking for an artist who can create an eye-catcher with graffiti or paint.

“Everyone who comes in should be amazed,” is the stated goal of Torsten Koch, deputy head of emergency services and head of social services at the BRK.

He had the idea for this project and will now take care of its implementation.

Artists are now called upon to present their suggestions to the BRK.

Important: “It should be clear that it is the hallway at the BRK,” says Koch.

This means: The work of art should contain either the BRK logo, the lettering of the aid organization or images of departments such as emergency services, emergency services, water rescue services and the like.

“We will take the person who comes up with the best suggestion,” says Koch – a committee of administration employees will make the decision.

The challenge for the artist is not an easy one: the staircase, which connects two floors, offers a high area of over 20 square meters - including a high window and lamps.

But Koch relies on the creativity of the artists.

There is no compensation for the commitment.

But: “We pay for the paint and take care of the scaffolding,” announces Koch.

Koch got the idea for this project when he saw the graffiti work at the Moosburg train station, which has been “enhancing the station” for a long time, as he says.

The BRK walls should now be just as modern, colorful and friendly – only those in the stairwell, mind you.

In the (office) rooms, the focus is still on a classic wall design with pictures and the like.

Good to know

If you are interested in taking part in the artist competition, please contact Torsten Koch - by email at koch@kvfreising.brk.de or by calling (0 81 61) 96 71 10. Of course there is the possibility of viewing the staircase in advance.

The proposals must be submitted by Easter, because work should start in spring or early summer.
