The Lenggries SPD is struggling with the planned adjustment of daycare fees and has launched an online survey.

170 parents took part.

Lenggries - After 2022, the fees in Lenggries for kindergarten and daycare are set to rise again this year in September.

The main committee agreed on this at its most recent meeting - against the vote of Tobias Raphelt (SPD).

The local council must finally decide on the increase.

The item will be on the agenda next Monday, February 26th.

If the SPD has its way, the decision should be postponed.

In advance, the local association has launched an online survey of parents.

SPD: “Citizens are already heavily burdened in many areas”

The response has been good, says Raphelt when asked.

170 Lenggries residents took part in the survey.

He doesn't like the fact that the municipality is turning the fee screw for the second time in two years.

“The citizens are already heavily burdened in many areas, so I think an increase of 16 percent is a bit too high.” Especially since one always had the feeling in the discussion about increasing the VAT in the catering industry from seven back to 19 percent "The 12 percent is the end of the West, and here they say that 16 percent in daycare centers is completely okay." For him, the whole thing happened too quickly.

The topic had not been discussed in advance.

“For me it came out of the blue,” says Raphelt.

He also doesn't understand the rush to decide now, because the increase won't take effect until September.

“I looked specifically, we didn’t decide on the last increases until June.”

Most of those surveyed could live with ten percent

He would like to have the issue postponed.

The interim findings from the parents’ online survey are quite clear.

“Two thirds think 16 percent is too big an increase,” says the SPD local club leader.

At ten percent, those surveyed could most likely still live.

It has also been shown that very few people have daycare or crèche space in order to have a little more free time themselves.

With a few exceptions, care is important because parents have to go to work.

For many, the increase represents “a noticeable additional burden”.

In the survey, the guardians are not only asked whether they are satisfied with the care times, whether they are single parents and work, but also what increase would be acceptable and at what interval.

The question also needs to be answered as to whether a 16 percent increase “represents a noticeable additional burden on the budget”.

Raphelt would like to bring the resulting mood to the local council next Monday.

The annual deficit for the community daycare centers is around 1.4 million euros

The municipality justifies the renewed adjustment of the fees with the steadily increasing deficit in the daycare centers.

This amounts to around 1.3 to 1.4 million euros each year for the three municipal institutions.

From September onwards, parents will now have to pay 140 instead of 120 euros per month for four to five hours of childcare time in kindergarten.

After deducting the state subsidy, only 40 euros actually remain with the parents.

It continues in 14 euro increments for each additional hour of booking time.

In the crèche groups the fee increases from 240 to 280 euros (four to five hours).

It continues there in 28 euro increments.

However, parents do not automatically receive a state subsidy here.

The increase in fees would bring an additional 94,000 euros into the municipal coffers.

It only alleviates the deficit slightly, “but it creates an additional burden on the parents that is extremely noticeable,” says Raphelt.

The community spends money in many areas, and the SPD parliamentary group leader advocates looking for further savings potential here.

The local council meeting on Monday, February 26th begins at 6 p.m. in the multi-purpose hall in the former Post Hotel.
