These days, the discourse is once again on the discussion table regarding the recruitment of Yeshiva members and the value of Torah study.

We need to understand, explains Rabbi Shai Tahan, head of the Sha'ari Ezra collective and head of Beit Erzi HaLebanon, that despite the tremendous appreciation we have for the soldiers of the IDF - still yeshiva students who labor in the Holy Torah - they have an integral part in the success of the security campaign.

According to him, it is true, It is not always possible to understand this, because the value of learning the Torah is hidden and not visible, but we learn precisely this point from Parshat Shavuot, Parshat Titzvah.

Rabbi Tahan brought the words of the Holy Zohar which speaks of how there were two altars in the Mishkan, the outer altar on which the sacrifices were made and By doing so they atone for wrongdoings and sins, and the inner altar on which they burned incense.

The Holy Zohar explains that the role of the inner altar is to prevent sins in advance, by burning the incense. That is, the inner altar prevents the person from sinning, and thus he does not need to offer sacrifices at the outer altar.

Rabbi Tahan explains that this is where we also learn the value of Torah study. True, there is what is visible before our eyes, and there is what is hidden. And although Torah study is an internal and hidden matter, we still understand its great power, like the internal altar which is internal and hidden, but We still understand his great power, which is sometimes even greater than the visible and visible external altar.
