Journalist Ben Caspit published today (Sunday) that the decision of Education Minister Yoav Kish to cancel this year's Israel Awards, except for the award dedicated to bravery, was related to his dissatisfaction with the decision to award the entrepreneur Eyal Waldman the Israel Entrepreneurship Award.
Waldman is considered a prominent opponent of the legal revolution, publicly opposing it.
According to Caspit, Waldman was chosen by a majority of votes to receive the Israel Prize for Entrepreneurship by a special committee established to select the winner.
The committee was chaired by Ami Appelbaum, who until recently was the chief scientist, and besides him there were two other members on it, who "saw that none of the finalists would use the status for politics."
After the Minister of Education learned about the committee's decision, he tried to change it.
"Pressures were applied. Persuasions. The name of an alternative scientist was raised," Caspit wrote in a tweet on Twitter.
"The members of the committee refused. So the entire category was canceled. And then all the others. It's indescribable."
