The Figlsdorf-Aiglsdorf fire department's emergency vehicle is too old and the fire station is too small.
The market council decided whether the local defense force still had a future.
Nandlstadt
- The meeting room in the Nandlstadt town hall was almost bursting at the seams on Thursday evening: a good 20 listeners wanted to be there when the market council discussed the procurement of a new vehicle for the Figlsdorf-Aiglsdorf fire department and the associated necessary conversion and expansion .
Both are urgently necessary for the continued existence of the fire department, as second commander Tobias Krojer emphasized in an impressive presentation.
The current car doesn't even have seatbelts
The current vehicle of the Figlsdorf-Aiglsdorf fire department, built in 1988, is no longer up to date for a long time. Not only is it 36 years old and has significantly exceeded its normal service life of 30 years, but it also has “no belts, no headrests, etc sometimes a power steering,” as commander Maximilian Löffler explained in more detail to the FT.
There is also a lack of respiratory protection equipment - and as a result, the firefighters trained for it.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
Krojer explained what this means in concrete terms using an example.
In the event of a fire, for example, in the Prop Therapy Center in Aiglsdorf, which has space for 50 patients, the local fire department would be operational in about ten minutes and would be on site five minutes later.
But the problem: Because of the lack of (respiratory protection) equipment, the emergency services are not allowed to carry out an interior attack and rescue people from the burning building.
“If a person is unconscious, they will stay there,” said Krojer, describing the worst case scenario.
“We have to wait until Nandlstadt comes.” Valuable time is passing – time in which the building may already be in full fire and people can no longer be saved.
Market councils make fundamental decisions
In order to be able to optimally cover the south-western municipal area of Nandlstadt, especially places like Meilendorf and Weihersdorf, the fire department needs a new vehicle - a TSF logistics with respiratory protection equipment is being considered.
But that's not all: Because the new vehicles are significantly longer and wider than their predecessors, there is not enough space in the fire station - there is a lack of around five meters in length and two to three meters in width, said Löffler.
As a result, this means that once the new vehicle has been approved, an addition or conversion will also be necessary.
“Now you have to decide whether the Figlsdorf-Aiglsdorf fire department should continue to exist,” said Krojer to the market council members present.
Local councilors are fully behind their fire department
Nobody had any doubts about the necessity of the local fire department, which currently has 34 active members - on the contrary.
“We fully support the proposal,” said Sebastian Unger (CSU).
“We are happy when the fire brigade is on active duty and we want to try to buy the car you want.” The councils are also aware that they urgently need to “add an extension”, as Reinhard Krojer (UWN) said .
In any case, there is room for expansion, as Mayor Gerhard Betz and Tobias Krojer confirmed in unison

The market council unanimously approved the fundamental decision to purchase a vehicle and expand the fire station.
A planner is now commissioned to develop proposals for expanding the existing building.
If the Nandlstadt market council approves the plans, the vehicle will be ordered.
All in all, Löffler expects it to take two years until the vehicle is in the “new” garage.
