Highlights: “The animals are chopping up windows”: Hörbach has a crow problem. “So far the whole thing is not a plague, but it is clear: they were driven out of Puchheim and Gröbenzell, now they are with us,” says mayor Rainer Spicker. Citizens have also put tinsel on windows to keep the crows away. The rook is protected and cannot be hunted. For the carrion crow, however, there are specific hunting seasons.

Some people in the Hörbach district will feel as if they have stepped into a new film of the Hitchcock classic “The Birds”.

Althegnenberg - At least that's how one citizen described it during the current quarter hour in the local council.

Because there is probably a massive crow problem in Hörbach right now.

“There are over 100 birds – and if they have two to six young, we have a massive problem in the summer,” said the woman.

She immediately received support from another Hörbach resident.

She said: “It started with two or three pairs, and currently there are whole flocks of birds sitting in the oak trees.” But the noise pollution is not the worst problem.

“The animals are chopping up the windows, the rubber coating, the insulation, the panes,” she reported.

Windows in gables are particularly affected.

Citizens have also put tinsel on windows to keep the crows away.

Difficult topic

Mayor Rainer Spicker (BI) is aware of the problem.

“This is a difficult topic,” he said.

They recently discussed this at a hunting dinner.

“So far the whole thing is not a plague, but it is clear: they were driven out of Puchheim and Gröbenzell, now they are with us.” Spicker was in favor of waiting to see how things develop.

He will discuss this with his Mammendorf counterpart Josef Heckl.

Then you can plan further action.

Marcus Drexl (non-party) interjected that one must first clarify what type it is.

The rook is protected and cannot be hunted.

For the carrion crow, however, there are specific hunting seasons.
