From Frei's point of view, the federal government is acting too slowly and doing too little.

Both Ukraine and the German Bundeswehr should benefit from the large financial injection.
CDU politician Frei still believes the decision from back then was correct, but now accuses Scholz of breaking his word.
“Back then, the Chancellor correctly analyzed what was necessary in the military sector.
But the fact is that he did not take these necessary steps in government.
The Chancellor did not keep his promises of February 27, 2022,” said Frei in an interview.
He and the Union accuse the federal government of saying that there has been no substantial improvement in Germany's defense capability and that the defense budget will not be increased in the medium term after the special fund expires.

Frei argues that security must be the most important state goal and that spending must be cut elsewhere.
