A whole year without a fire alarm - that hasn't happened for a long time at the Fischen Volunteer Fire Department.

Nevertheless, the helpers had plenty to do with other missions and exercises.

Fischen –

When Fischen was incorporated into Pähl on May 1, 1978, the local fire department had already existed as a close-knit community for 95 years.

For the centenary in 1983, the fire station was inaugurated in a convenient location in Vorderfischen at the junction to Dießen.

The current annual members' meeting took place here in the almost too small training room, to which almost all 51 active fire brigade men and women came in uniform, as well as many deserving but now passive members for reasons of age.

Chairman Günther Hein and commander Mark Satzger were pleased with the response and were able to present an unspectacular annual report.

The 24 missions in 2023 primarily consisted of traffic regulations and technical assistance, such as in the event of traffic accidents or clean-up work after the onset of winter.

There were lots of exercises and courses on the program.

Whether respiratory protection, stress and district radio exercises or installing an oil barrier on the bunting.

The MTA intermediate exams were passed nine times and the MTA final exams three times.

Six participants achieved the fire department sports badge.

The 13 members of the youth fire brigade also took part in a total of 23 exercises, as youth warden Lisa Widmann was proud to report.

How good the young fishermen are was shown by taking first place at the district fire brigade youth day ahead of Pähl and Haunshofen.

In the knowledge test in Wielenbach, seven young people won one silver, five gold and one gold-green.

To keep the kids entertained, there was a trip to Skyline Park.

No annual meeting without honors.

Angela Mayr was honored for 20 years of active service, Dominik Pentenrieder and Raimund Bernhard for 25 years each, and Michael Huber and Thomas Widmann for 40 years each.

The latter and Raimund Bernhard were also honored with the Fire Department Cross of Honor in silver.

Ewald Lautenbacher, chairman from 2004 to 2016, was appointed honorary chairman.

There was applause from district fire chief Karl Neuner, district fire inspector Markus Deutschenbacher and mayor Simon Sörgel.
