Amadeus is expanding

2024-02-26T06:13:46.612Z

Highlights: Amadeus is expanding. Amadeus could expand the data center on the green field opposite its headquarters. The existing building between the railway track and Berghamer Straße is too old and is neither contemporary nor economically viable to renovate. The data center itself remains in the existing building, also because it is structurally particularly protected and is considered Erding's Fort Knox. More and more data is being stored in clouds. The aim is to “create a space that meets both the needs of our team and the requirements of a future-oriented working environment”

The Amadeus company is not only committed to the Erding location, they even want to expand it.

These are the plans - although not yet very concrete.

Erding - During the Corona phase, there was still concern that the travel and tourism data center Amadeus, as the largest trade tax payer, could leave Erding; the XXL property on Berghamer Straße in Aufhausen was already for sale.

Amadeus has recovered – and now wants to expand near the site.

The city council does not want to put any obstacles in the way of the company that once brought Franz Josef Strauss to Erding.

The urban development committee decided to designate a development plan for a 7.6 hectare area between or behind the supermarkets and the garden center.

The name Amadeus was not mentioned during the meeting, but it was clear to everyone who was meant.

What Amadeus plans to do is not yet entirely clear.

According to information from our newspaper, office buildings are to be built on part of the area.

It is said that the existing building between the railway track and Berghamer Straße is too old and is neither contemporary nor economically viable to renovate.

It is unclear whether it will be demolished, rented out or used for other purposes.

The data center itself remains in the existing building, also because it is structurally particularly protected and is considered Erding's Fort Knox.

In addition, more and more data is being stored in clouds.

When asked by our newspaper, Amadeus spokesman Klaus Ennen said: “Erding is a long-term strategic location for Amadeus.

Our offices and headquarters will continue to be located in Erding and our employees will remain employed there.” The company has “increased its investment in our talented employees and will continue to do so in the future as we continue to grow in Erding.”

The aim is to “create a space that meets both the needs of our team and the requirements of a future-oriented working environment”.

The development plan is one option, “but we are still examining others,” says Ennen.

Hans Egger (EDJ) welcomed the plans, but pointed out the bottleneck on Pretzener Strasse when it came to development.

This could now become even tighter, especially since there are also residential construction projects for Aufhausen (we reported).

Mayor Max Gotz (CSU) said that one should not badmouth the situation.

There are hardly any commercial areas with direct rail connections.

Helga Stieglmeier (Greens) wants to save space, but the development of an Erdinger business is supported.
