Doors broken open, furniture destroyed, cupboards ransacked: A series of break-ins has caused frustration and fear at the Dr. Elisabeth Bamberger School in Hebertshausen.

Classes are not possible given the destruction.

Update from February 26th, 5:45 p.m.:

Hebertshausen - The Elisabeth Bamberger School (EBS) in Hebertshausen is trying to return to normality.

Yesterday, Monday, the students were allowed to return to their classrooms, as head teacher Petra Weindl explained when asked.

As reported, unknown rioters broke into the school on Freisinger Strasse the weekend before last and destroyed practically all of the furniture, technical equipment, windows and doors.

There had previously been break-ins at school in mid-December, during the Christmas holidays and three weeks ago.

In the cases in December, the perpetrators also took electronics and other valuables.

The Dachau police continue to assume that there is a series of crimes committed by the same perpetrators and are investigating at high speed, as spokeswoman Luisa Schlager emphasizes.

More precise information about the property damage caused by the recent break-in cannot be provided even after a week, says Schlager.

The devastation in the school building was too great.

However, the investigators assumed a “very rough estimate” of a mid-five-figure amount.

The forensics at the crime scene have now been completed.

According to Schlager, the evaluation of fingerprint or DNA traces is still ongoing.

The Dachau police patrol crews will also keep a close eye on the area around the school in the coming weeks, as the police spokeswoman announced.

Of course, the “patrol” depends on the other operational situation in the district, but “our forces are sensitized and informed”!

Those responsible at EBS have also had strenuous days behind them.

According to school principal Weindl, the start of classes yesterday was only possible thanks to “the active support of the craftsmen at the Franziskuswerk, a cleaning crew and our entire team.”

Weindl has been at EBS for 33 years and emphasizes that he has “experienced a lot” during this time.

But the events of the past few weeks have “really topped everything.”

Like many citizens, she also wants the police to catch the perpetrators.

Because: “It would be fatal if those responsible could not be held accountable.” zip

“Who would do such a thing to us?” – Series of burglaries shakes school

Original report:

Hebertshausen - On the weekend between December 15th and 18th there was the first break-in at the Dr. Elisabeth Bamberger School in Hebertshausen.

The perpetrators took everything they considered valuable, especially electronic items.

There was another break-in during the Christmas holidays;

Once again, individual windows and doors were broken open; the perpetrators were obviously looking for valuables.

A series of burglaries rocks the Dr. Elisabeth Bamberger School in Hebertshausen

On the weekend between February 9th and 12th, criminals struck again at the special school on Freisinger Strasse, with their modus operandi changing slightly: In addition to the theft, massive devastation was also noted for the first time, with the administrative rooms in particular falling victim to the burglars' destructiveness to the victim.

This time, the damage to property and loot exceeded the 10,000 euro mark for the first time.

The burglars destroyed everything they saw

Last weekend was the highlight (so far): The burglars simply destroyed everything they saw.

Michael Hermann, spokesman for the Dachau police, sums it up like this: “The perpetrators left no stone unturned.” The police are still unable to say how much property damage is or whether individual items were stolen: “The destruction “It’s just too big.”

The burglars raged through 36 of a total of 38 rooms

Of a total of 38 rooms, the burglars rampaged through 36. They destroyed furniture and doors, ransacked cupboards and shelves and smeared floors and walls with leftover food, alcohol, milk and juices.

Instead of stealing electronic devices, this time the perpetrators resorted to simply destroying them: no PC, no screen, no view board or anything similar is left intact.

While the police are investigating and are currently awaiting the results of the “extensive” forensic measures, according to police spokesman Hermann, there is bewilderment, helplessness and anger at the school.

Headmaster Petra Weindl is now desperately asking herself: “Who would do something like this to us?

And why?

We’re doing a damn good job here!”

Currently no school operations: Due to the extensive damage and the ongoing clean-up work - see the container on the left in the picture - the Bamberg school is closed.

There is disbelief at the school

However, she and her colleagues did not and do not have time to grieve or process the events.

On Monday morning, when the first teachers realized the extent of the new break-in, they had to intercept the children before they entered the school: “The buses were already on their way!” Some of the colleagues therefore concentrated on welcoming the bus children, Another part looked after the children who were on their way to school by S-Bahn.

Other teachers called parents to let them know that their children were coming home.

Given the destruction, no on-site classes could take place this week

In view of the destruction, according to Weindl, no classes could take place on site this week.

Whether the children can go back next week will be clarified this Friday.

The question of how the school wants to protect itself against the attackers is currently being discussed with the school's sponsor, the Franziskuswerk, and the government of Upper Bavaria as the supervisory authority.

According to Weindl, the question that looms over all discussions is: “How do we deal with this?” A crisis intervention team is also involved in the discussions and is intended to help teachers and students process the events.

The special school

The Dr. Elisabeth Bamberger School (EBS) is a state-recognized private support center with a focus on emotional and social development.

The school teaches grades 1 to 9. The school family includes around 67 students, special school teachers as well as specialist teachers, special education teachers, social educators and specialist psychological services.

The school is an offer for children who need special educational support and special education care due to their social-emotional development.

The aim is for the children to develop social and learning behavior and to be able to attend a regular school in the long term.

The ESB is currently housed in a container building in Hebertshausen.

From the 2027/2028 school year, the school will find a permanent home in Sulzemoos.

After the destructive rage: Parents offer to help

According to headmaster Weindl, the only good news from the past horror weeks was the reaction of the parents: “It was great to see that they are completely behind us!” Individual parents even offered to help with the clean-up work, for example by bringing a large car wanted to provide.

Everyone – the school family and the police – is currently united in the hope that those responsible for these terrible acts will soon be found.

For “tactical reasons” police spokesman Hermann cannot and does not want to reveal anything about the status of the investigation.

He only says this much: “Surely” there were “several perpetrators”.

And: “It stands to reason” that it was always the same perpetrators.
