   As a result the boy's lawyer will withdraw the petition for him to be a civil plaintiff in the criminal trial into the case in the second hearing in Verbania on Tuesday, the sources said.


   The Israeli boy has been at the center of a bitter legal battle between the paternal and maternal sides of his family.


   His maternal grandfather, Shmuel Peleg, was given a suspended sentence of one year, eight months for having taken the child to Israel in September 2021 when he was six years old.


   Eitan came back to Italy in December 2021 after Israeli courtsordered his return to him, saying he should remain with his paternalaunt of him, Aya Biran Nirko, after the Italian authorities gave her custody.
