The Minister of the Treasury, Rogerio Ceron, presented a program (Eco Invest Brasil) to encourage foreign investments in green projects and to fight climate change.
The plan provides for international insurance lasting 25 years to cover exchange rate variations, and loans at subsidized rates of up to 15%, for a total amount of up to two billion dollars a year.
As explained, in the event of a devaluation of the real, a hedge fund will cover the difference.
The Inter-American Development Bank will act as an intermediary, and the Brazilian Central Bank will monitor the operations.
"The clean energy matrix makes our country different.
We propose a competitive line so that the final cost is advantageous", said Ceron.
