“There is at least 30,000 euros in damage.”

The main suspects in this act of vandalism are aged between 10 and 13 years old, according to the testimony of the mayor of the town, Jean-Paul Munnier, who put a small group of individuals to flight when the events occurred.
Around 5 p.m. Saturday February 24, the mayor of the town of less than 6,000 inhabitants was called by a local resident,
“who reported noise and movement”
within the Damien-Jeanney primary school, located in the neighborhood “
sensitive
” of Fougères.
The councilor then went there and, upon his arrival, a group of
“six to ten young people”
, who would be aged between 10 and 13 years old according to his testimony, fled.
Fire extinguisher shots
Upon entering the building, Jean-Paul Munnier realized the scale of the disaster.
Overturned cabinets, broken windows, overturned chairs... The windows of an airlock also received numerous blows from a fire extinguisher.
“The whole building was damaged.
All classes are concerned
,” specifies the prosecutor in Le
Figaro
.
Two interactive whiteboards (TBI), estimated at 10,000 euros each, were also broken.
“Even the refectory was affected, with ketchup sauce on the walls
,” explains the prosecutor, who points out an
“act of complete stupidity
. ”
How did the suspects enter the building on a Saturday afternoon?
This is the whole question that arises, 48 hours after the events, when the anti-intrusion alarm system was not triggered at the time of the events, and the area is not covered by video surveillance, Did we learn.
“Everything depends on the scientific and technical police”
, according to the magistrate, who ordered
“the DNA analysis of the samples to identify a genetic profile”
.
“We have a certain number of young people registered with the FNAEG (national genetic fingerprint file)
,” explains Paul-Édouard Lallois.
The authorities urge the young suspects to turn themselves in to the police.
“Let's hope that tongues are loosened”
before the arrival of the gendarmes at the potential perpetrators, says the prosecutor, for whom the vandals are possibly
“young people who have completely lost their footing”
.
For his part, the mayor plans to postpone the start of the school year, scheduled for March 4, while awaiting repairs, even if he wants to
“do everything to avoid this”
.
