“Earnie's Gym”: This is the name of the fitness studio that opens on May 1st in the former “Schuh Linse”.

It will be open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Gauting

– Bernhard Fuchs has a lot to do at the moment.

The 46-year-old currently has to sand the floor in the former “Schuh Linse”, which means strenuous work.

“It’s good that I’m somewhat trained,” he says with a smile.

He has set himself an ambitious schedule: the first of around 25 devices will be delivered in March, and the floor must be ready by then.

The inauguration is scheduled to take place on May 1st, with grilled burgers for all members.

What Fuchs has in mind is a fitness studio for everyone.

This includes that it is affordable.

The annual pass will cost 360 euros, i.e. 30 euros per month.

A monthly ticket costs 40 euros.

There is also a day pass available, which costs ten euros.

Anyone who knows the contributions from other studios knows that these are cheap rates.

For Webasto employees, use of “Earnie's Gym” is included in the so-called Well Pass.

The low price is made possible by concentrating on the essentials: sport.

“We forego wellness,” says Fuchs.

In other words: no swimming pool, no sauna, not even a shower.

“The best shower is at home anyway,” says Fuchs.

“And I assume that most of the customers come from the immediate area.” It wouldn’t have been so easy to install either, as there was no hot water connection so far.

But something else is even more important: “Earnie's Gym” operates without any staff.

Of course, at the beginning you will be given an introduction to the equipment and an anamnesis including a training plan will also be taken.

But then customers can come and go as and when they want, 365 days a year, seven days a week.

They are given a wristband so they can enter through a turnstile.

If customers have forgotten their bracelet, they come in with their cell phone, or more precisely: via a QR code.

However, anyone who comes to Münchener Straße to do sports will meet the owner more often.

His main job is as an insurance specialist and real estate financier and he can also work from the gym when he doesn't have appointments.

“Of course that makes sense,” he says.

He will run the store together with his wife, also a fitness trainer.

So it's a family business - not a chain.

Fuchs is absolutely convinced of strength training as such.

“I’m sure it’s the right thing for 70 percent of the population,” he says.

Anyone who takes care of their body will benefit immediately - and in old age anyway.

“For me personally, it was never about the cult of the body,” he says.

“I just want to be healthy and when I’m 80 I can still carry my box of friends into the apartment by myself.”

Earnie's Gym, named after the owner's nickname, is 440 square meters in size, which is relatively large for staffless gyms.

Bernhard Fuchs is proud of what is to be built on the back wall, namely an eight meter wide cable crossover station where eight members can train at the same time.

A unique selling point is virtual reality: with the help of glasses you can be transported to the Grand Canal of Venice while rowing on the ground floor or to the sea during boxing training in the basement.

It's also good that "Schuh Linse" also has air conditioning - a luxury, especially in the hot summer months.

Advance sales for members start on March 1st on the homepage https://earnies-gym.de, the first 100 will receive a discounted annual ticket for 25 euros per month.

And on May 1st it finally starts.
