Highlights: Eleven MoonSwatch suitcases sold for €560,444 for a good cause. Each of the suitcases featured a seconds hand coated in 18K Moonshine Gold. The entire amount will be donated to the charity Orbis. The charity provides eye care to millions of people around the world. It also helps children to see their parents for the first time in their lives. It is based in the Netherlands, but also has offices in the UK and the U.S. It was founded in 1903 and is based at the University of Graz.


Sold at auction at Sotheby's, each of these suitcases contained eleven Omega x Swatch Mission to Moonshine Gold watches.


The MoonSwatch, a happy marriage between a Swatch and an Omega Speedmaster MoonWatch, the NASA astronauts' watch, not only sold more than two million copies last year.

They also know how to serve good causes.

Thus, since 2011, it has supported the Orbis association, which fights against blindness and preventable vision problems around the world.

To raise funds for this cause, Omega sold eleven MoonSwatch cases dedicated to Moonshine Gold models.

A special online auction organized by Sotheby's resulted in them being sold for more than half a million euros (€560,444).

It must be said that this was the first time not only that these models were sold together, but also that the exclusive MoonSwatch suitcase was available for purchase.

MoonSwatches featured a seconds hand coated in 18K Moonshine gold – a unique alloy created in-house at Omega that offers a subtler, more durable form of yellow gold.



The entire amount will be donated to Orbis.

Through its programs and aboard its flying eye hospital, Orbis has already provided eye care to millions of patients, while training hundreds of thousands of eye care professionals in the regions of the world that need it most .

Orbis' work is valuable, especially for children, as it allows many of them to see their parents for the very first time.
