As soon as the residents noticed the smoke, they fled outside.

The fire in an apartment building in Weilheim in the early afternoon of February 23rd caused extensive material damage and made the apartment uninhabitable until further notice.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire is still unclear.

Weilheim - According to the police report, residents of the affected apartment themselves noticed smoke developing in the attic apartment of an apartment building on Seitzstrasse in Weilheim last Friday around 1:20 p.m. and were able to get outside in time without being injured.

A neighbor then tried in vain to put out the fire that had broken out with a fire extinguisher until the fire department arrived.

By the time the fire department was able to extinguish the fire after about half an hour, the flames had already destroyed parts of the apartment and caused property damage worth at least 100,000 euros.

Luckily, no one got hurt.

Because the apartment is no longer habitable for the time being, the district office took care of finding alternative accommodation for the affected family.

After the initial investigations by the Weilheim police station, the permanent criminal investigation service (KDD) took over the investigation into the cause of the fire together with specially trained crime scene officers at the scene of the fire.

The investigation into this is ongoing.
