According to the Tölzer police, the first message on Saturday afternoon sounded quite dramatic: “In Obersteinbach a man fell into a hole and was buried.”
Gaißach - Many emergency services from the Lenggries and Gaißach fire departments rushed to Obersteinbach in Gaißach immediately after the emergency call on Saturday (February 24th) at around 1:25 p.m.
As the Tölz police station reports, a 41-year-old resident was buried up to his stomach by slipping earth during excavation work on an agricultural property in the pit.

And for the first time it was not possible to rescue the 41-year-old from the hole.
The victim's brother tried to dredge it independently, but failed.
The rescue workers were then alerted.
“Fortunately, no one’s life was in immediate danger,” said the police.
Ultimately, the surrounding earth was removed with two excavators so that the man from Gaißach was able to leave the hole on his own and get into the ambulance, where he was examined for possible injuries.
