Two men, suspected of having beaten a thirty-year-old to death, were arrested on Sunday, just a few hours after the incident. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, two men - aged 30 and 38 - arrived by car near Saint-Thurial when a vehicle crossed their path.

Two individuals come out with a baseball bat and beat them before fleeing.

When help arrived, it was too late to help the 30-year-old victim, who died instantly.

This resident of Monterfil, a neighboring town of Saint-Thurial,

“was very involved in local life and was going to be a father,”

reacted David Moizan, mayor of Saint-Thurial, to France 3.

Unknown to the police

The second victim was transported to the emergency room and

“his days do not appear to be in danger”

, underlines prosecutor Philippe Astruc who opened an investigation for

“intentional homicide”

and

“violence with a weapon”

.

According to the mayor,

"the two men were friends and neither of them had been talked about before."

At this stage,

“the reasons for the altercation have not been established

,” the prosecutor tells us.
