Who can blame La Poste?
This is the question everyone is asking this Monday in Saint-Just-en-Chaussée.
In this town of 6,000 inhabitants in the north of Oise, the charred carcasses of five “utility vehicles” belonging to La Poste were discovered on Sunday morning.
The cars were parked at Place Théron, opposite the post office and the mail center.
“They would have caught fire during the night of Saturday 24 to Sunday 25,” officials of the postal company told Le Parisien.
“The investigative actions made it possible to confirm the criminal origin of the fire,” explains, for his part, Frédéric Trinh, public prosecutor of Beauvais.
An investigation was opened by the prosecution and entrusted to the Saint-Just-en-Chaussée gendarmes.
“On Saturday, around 8:30 p.m., we saw two or three vehicles at the scene.
They must have probably returned during the night.
We transmitted the images captured by the municipality’s video surveillance to the gendarmerie,” explains Bernard Dubouil, the mayor of Saint-Just-en-Chaussée.
Mail delivery was able to resume
According to the councilor, the thug(s) did not stop there.
Not content with burning several cars, they also broke the windows of two other vehicles.
“Perhaps people looking for spare parts,” says the mayor.
A news item which aroused indignation among residents.
“It’s shameful to see things like this.
There is no more respect.
Good luck to them,” comments a user on Facebook.
The wrecks of the vehicles, which must be recovered by the company's insurer, were still visible this Monday morning.
In a video posted on social networks, we see the vehicles completely burned.
Tape was placed all around the cars.

“Seriously the post office cars?
What are you going to do on Monday?
», worries an Internet user, in response to a Facebook post.
Rest assured, on the mail delivery side, despite the decimated fleet, the rounds were carried out normally.
“Reserve vehicles from neighboring sites could be loaned,” assures La Poste.
Parcel delivery will also be possible.
“The investigation continues to identify the perpetrators,” recalls the prosecutor.
