A wave of storms is currently hitting Italy.

The stormy weather leaves its mark on the beaches.

Jesolo is particularly affected – again.

Jesolo – There was suddenly snow chaos in the Alps.

In Austria and on the Brenner Pass nothing worked for a while.

However, the dreaded Italian low also affected other regions of the country - with thunderstorms, hail and wind.

It rained for hours on the coast in Veneto.

A storm surge on the Adriatic Sea devastated a stretch of beach in Jesolo.

Storm in Italy – Strong gusts of wind whip sand from Adriatic beaches into the sea

Gusts of wind and two-meter-high waves hit the Adriatic coast.

The sandy beach could not withstand the forces of nature, local media report.

Two kilometers - according to initial estimates, around 5,000 cubic meters of sand - have been torn into the sea.

Erosion occurred mainly in the pine forest area, said Antonio Facco, president of the Jesolo Federconsorzi beach association, according to the Italian daily

Il Gazzettino.

However, the extent of the damage cannot yet be predicted.

And the wave of storms in Italy is not over yet, warn meteorologists.

Jesolo probably got away with a black eye in the storm.

This time the violent Sirocco and Libeccio winds mixed.

“The gusts did not hit the beach sideways as usual, but head-on,” explained Facco.

“This meant that the sand was not transported far away.” With the tide going out in the next few days, the beach could possibly be restored.

Italian seaside resort Jesolo is investing more than 500,000 euros in the sandy beach

It is not the first time that Jesolo beach has disappeared after a storm.

It is a problem for the popular holiday resort as well as for the entire Veneto coast.

The town wants to protect the seashore from erosion in the future.

567,500 euros will be available for this in 2024.

The money will also be used to bring new sand to the area and restore the Jesolo coast.

Last summer, storms destroyed vacation dreams on the Adriatic.

In addition to heat and drought, other plagues also plagued Italy.

To the horror of other holidaymakers, a tourist even collected jellyfish to eat on the holiday beaches of Jesolo.
