"When we talk about netzero objectives, we must think that 2050 seems far away, but it's tomorrow morning. The enormous effort to be made today is to be able to put in place infrastructures to decarbonize with companies like A2A.
We have invested 5 billion in the last 3 years, but we must go faster" declared Renato Mazzoncini, CEO of A2A, speaking at the "More energy in circulation" event, where the innovations of the Brescia waste-to-energy plant were presented.
"The indigenous sources we have in Italy for energy are water, sun, wind and waste and it is important to organize them and make the best use of them. For years waste has been moving towards Northern Europe because to have an efficient system you must have technology and you must need heat where it is needed. If we talk about a decarbonised world we should think as a European Community, trying to get together with a serious project" continued Mazzoncini.
"In the South, for example, it is obvious that we have more sun and wind and, consequently, we have a higher renewable potential than others. On the other hand, if we talk about waste-to-energy plants, these have more space in Northern Europe, where it is colder and more is needed heat".
