A 21-year-old young woman suspected of the “murder” of her child whom she had just given birth to was taken into police custody on Monday in Forbach (Moselle), we learned from the Metz public prosecutor's office.
This young woman, from the nearby town of Morsbach, was
“placed in police custody since (Monday) morning for the murder of a 15-year-old minor”
at the Forbach gendarmerie research brigade, indicated to AFP Thomas Bernard, deputy public prosecutor, confirming information from
Républicain Lorrain
.
She is suspected of having intentionally killed her child to whom she had just given birth on Wednesday.
An autopsy was carried out and the child
"a priori was viable, hence the custody for murder"
, added the magistrate, who did not wish to give more information on the results of the autopsy.
The young woman presented herself at Forbach hospital on Wednesday where she explained her story to the nursing staff, who notified the police.
She was initially hospitalized, before being placed in police custody.
According to
Le Républicain Lorrain
, the possibility of a
“denial of pregnancy”
is
“privileged”
but Mr. Bernard indicated that he had
“no elements at this stage”
that could support this thesis.
