Deputy Chief of Staff and former MK Yair Golan intends to run for the leadership of the Labor Party in the upcoming internal elections at the end of May, and according to a statement on his behalf, he intends to lead the unification in the left bloc: "We have two tasks," he said.
It was also reported: "Dismantle the government as quickly as possible and unite the camp. Unfortunately, Rabbi Michaeli forces internal primaries at work and opposes the unification of the camp. We will be elected, unite in the process and establish a new political framework that will unite the entire liberal-democratic camp under a new brand."

Last night, Golan came to a protest in front of the news studios in Neve Ilan, and criticized the government's conduct and its goals during the war. "The government has no interest in releasing hostages," Golan said. "They know that the end of the fighting will lead to the end of their rule.
Only the return of the abductees will bring back some measure of sanity to this fighting.
It cannot be said that we will release Hamas and release the abductees.
Anyone who understands a little about strategy understands that this cannot happen."
"This is a supreme moral order and if we don't implement it, we will tear Israeli society apart from the inside," continued the former MK from Meretz.
"If we release the abductees it will lead to an end to the fighting, if there is an end to the fighting we probably won't destroy Hamas completely. There will be enough years to destroy Hamas, first of all there are 134 people who are dying in captivity and they need to be released."
