With a total compensation exceeding three million euros, Eitan Biran, the nine-year-old child who was the only survivor of the Mottarone cable car accident, leaves the scene of the trial for the cabin crash in which, on 23 May three years ago, 14 people died, including the child's father, mother, little brother and maternal great-grandparents.
Tomorrow, during the second preliminary hearing scheduled in Verbania, the child's lawyer, Fabrizio Ventimiglia, will withdraw the request for civil action made on 17 January.
"We have reached the definition of settlement agreements involving all the parties involved, natural and legal persons - writes the lawyer Ventimiglia in a note -. I am very happy with this result, which fully satisfies us. Leitner and Reale Mutua have offered an important contribution to guarantee a peaceful future from an economic point of view for Eitan".
Ferrovie del Mottarone, the company that managed the plant, also offered compensation.
According to the lawyer, "Eitan had to get out of this affair as quickly as possible, and so it was. Undoubtedly no compensation will ever be able to restore to him what was taken from him in the face of this immense tragedy. But from now on, surrounded by affection of all his relatives and friends - he continued - he will be able to concentrate only on his own path in life, staying away from the courtrooms, trying to close this very painful parenthesis of his life, looking to the future with the light-heartedness and serenity that should not never be missing in a child's childhood."
