According to the Slovakian president, NATO wants to send soldiers to Ukraine.
She was always careful not to get involved in the war.
Bratislava - Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico caused an uproar on Monday (February 26) with his statements about the war in Ukraine.
He warned of increasing escalation in Ukraine with Russia.
Fico also said that some members of NATO and the European Union would consider sending their own soldiers to Ukraine.
Slovakian president warns against NATO soldiers in Ukraine war
Before leaving for the Ukraine Supporters' Conference in Paris, Fico warned of a "dangerous escalation of tensions" with Russia.
The agenda of the conference sends “a shiver of fear down your spine,” the left-national head of government told journalists in Bratislava.
The word “peace” was not even mentioned in the announcements of the Paris conference; instead, plans were alluded to that were associated with “huge security risks”.

Individual countries, which he did not want to name, were apparently prepared to send their own soldiers directly to Ukraine.
“I will limit myself to saying that these theses (in preparation for the Paris meeting) indicate that a number of NATO and EU member states are considering sending their troops to Ukraine on a bilateral basis,” he said Prime Minister following a meeting meeting of the Slovak Security Council.

Fico warns of dangers
“I cannot say for what purpose and what they should do there,” he added.
Fico emphasized that Slovakia would not send soldiers to Ukraine.
It remained unclear which specific theses indicate a possible deployment of NATO soldiers in Ukraine.
He said it would not persuade Russia to back down but would increase the risk of the conflict escalating.
NATO has not yet commented on Fico's statements.
Although NATO states support Ukraine with weapons and train armed forces, direct interference in the war should be avoided.
“Neither NATO nor its allies are involved in the conflict,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on February 14th.

The Slovak Prime Minister has long rejected military support for Ukraine.
Some critics therefore accuse him of taking a pro-Russian stance.
He appealed to the EU and NATO partners to look for a peaceful way out of the war.

It is undisputed that the Russian attack on Ukraine was a clear violation of international law.
Nevertheless, the West's previous military strategy has not brought about the liberation of the occupied territories.
There is “no military solution” to the conflict.
Instead, the EU states should try to start talks with Russia.
According to Fico, this is the only way to save Ukraine from more destruction and deaths and to prevent the war from spreading.
