A 26-year-old asylum seeker from the Congo wants to become a geriatric nurse in Germany.
He started his training successfully.
But now he has been arrested.
He is due to be deported in a few hours.
His employer is fighting for him.
Munich - Daniel Mangala wants to become a nursing specialist - and for months he has been doing everything he can to achieve this goal.
He began a year-long training course to become a nursing assistant at Munich Stift in the fall.
He had already been accepted for the three-year generalist nursing training afterwards, reports managing director Renate Binder.
Nursing assistant should be deported - applied for asylum due to violence caused by terror
He works at the St. Josef nursing home in Munich.
He passed his intermediate exam, his superiors are very satisfied with his work and in his free time he does everything he can to further improve his German, says Binder.
But now it looks as if he will have to leave Germany in a few hours.

Daniel Mangala comes from Congo.
In 2019 he entered the country on a tourist visa, and shortly afterwards he applied for asylum due to violence and displacement by terrorist militias in his home country.
His asylum application was rejected twice, he received a tolerated stay, completed secondary school, attended integration and language courses and began training in September.
The immigration authority takes away the trainee in handcuffs – the employer is shocked
Last Friday he had an appointment at the immigration authorities in Neuburg-Schrobenhausen to have his toleration extended.
David Strobel, who looks after the trainees at Munich Stift, accompanied him - and had to watch as Mangala was arrested at the authorities and taken away in handcuffs.
He has been in deportation detention in Hof since Friday and is scheduled to be flown to the Congo on Tuesday night.
The immigration authorities argue that the toleration has expired and that Mangala has a valid passport.
The expired document has been confiscated.
“But he already has an appointment in April at the embassy in Berlin to pick up a new passport,” says Strobel.
He cannot understand why the 26-year-old should now be deported - and has been doing everything he can for the past three days to prevent that.
We lack so many nursing staff, we are dependent on people from abroad

He has submitted a petition to the state parliament and is in contact with Mangala's lawyer.
Renate Binder contacted the office of Munich Mayor Verena Dietl - hoping to work together to achieve something for the 26-year-old.
Daniel has good grades and hasn't done anything wrong, she emphasizes.
“Everyone should be happy when they find a good trainee who wants to work in geriatric care.
We lack so many nursing staff, we are dependent on people from abroad.”
