The Menzil sect is one of President Erdogan's most loyal allies.

But a dispute escalates within the group and is now reaching Germany.

Stuttgart - A battle for leadership succession has broken out among the Islamist Menzil sect in Turkey after its leader Abdulbaki Erol died on July 12, 2023.

Since then, a dispute has broken out between the sons Saki and Mübarek over the successor - which has now spilled over into Germany.

On Friday (February 23rd) things apparently escalated in a Menzil prayer center in Stuttgart, which is also called “Kasri Arifan Dergahi”.

A police spokesman told our editorial team that an emergency call was made by a club member at around 7:30 p.m.

Five people who had previously been banned from entering the building broke into the site, which caused a scandal.

Several patrol cars had to arrive that evening.

Police use batons

Unknown people shared videos of the police operation on X.

It shows how several police officers have to separate two angry groups.

According to the police spokesman, there were no injuries during the operation.

But it is now being investigated for trespassing.

The dispute between the two factions was apparently about one group not allowing access to the place of worship.

The group calling itself “Semerkand Vakfi” is downplaying the incident.

There was no argument at all.

Those who were responsible for entering the place of worship with shoes had “sinned,” the group's press release said.

Menzil sect supports President Erdogan

Both camps of the Menzil Group are considered supporters of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

In the run-up to the 2023 Turkish election, they supported the election campaign of Erdogan and his AKP.

“The AK Party Göppingen organized a YSKM meeting (AKP Foreign Election Coordination Center) in the Menzil group.

Our citizens have been informed about the upcoming elections,” the AKP-Württemberg posted on X on March 26, 2023.

Menzil sect is becoming increasingly powerful in Turkey

In recent years the group has become increasingly powerful.

The open support for Erdogan was worth it.

The Menzil sect became particularly visible after the devastating earthquake of July 6th.

According to research by Turkish journalist Ismail Ari, over 1,100 children in a village in Kahta, a district of the city of Adiyaman, have been accommodated in shelters run by the “Menzil Community”.

“In the village where community leaders live, security measures were very strict even before the earthquake.

Taking photos with cell phones was forbidden,” wrote Ari in his report for the

Bir Gün newspaper.

Everywhere in the village there are police officers and soldiers who stand upright as soon as one of the leaders of the sect passes them.
