The new photovoltaic system in Ravenna Ponticelle is operational.
The Eni group company, Plenitude, announced this in a note.
The plant, with an installed capacity of 6 MW, is spread over an industrial area of 11 hectares and is made up of over 10,000 latest generation photovoltaic panels in monocrystalline silicon.
The new photovoltaic park is part of the productive redevelopment initiative of a disused industrial area of a total of 26 hectares, completely reclaimed and owned by Eni Rewind.
The same area, following the environmental remediation intervention, will also host a land biorecovery platform and a multifunctional waste pre-treatment platform, the latter in partnership with Herambiente.
The photovoltaic system, which will be connected to the electricity grid in the coming weeks, already has the provision of an energy storage system, which will use a new generation of batteries (flow battery), on which Eni's research and development unit will experiment with solutions innovative.
Once fully operational, the photovoltaic system will produce energy equivalent to the needs of over 3,000 families.
"With the photovoltaic plant in Ravenna Ponticelle, Plenitude continues to grow in the generation of renewable energy in Italy, in line with Eni's commitment to enhance the potential of its industrial sites and seize all the opportunities offered by technological innovation", explains Alessandro Della Zoppa, head of Renewables by Plenitude
