Numerous households were without power last week.
Initially it was said that an excavator driver was to blame.
But the problems had a different origin.
Weilheim
– The power was out in parts of Weilheim and Wielenbach for several hours on Friday.
According to the first report from Bayernwerk Netz GmbH, an excavator driver had damaged an underground cable.
Now it is clear: The mishap occurred on a low-voltage cable, but it was not the reason for the major power outage.
It was “a technical defect in a medium-voltage cable,” says Christian Martens, press spokesman for Bayernwerk Netz GmbH.
What led to this remains unclear.
“It’s a defect in ongoing operations,” says Martens – which cannot be fundamentally ruled out.
And this sometimes leads to subsequent errors - for example by changing the voltage.
“We had three of them.” The problem areas were found with a cable measuring van.
They were on Holzhofstrasse, on Tankenrainer Strasse, on Römerstrasse and in Unterhausen near the sports field.
Broken devices: Compensation for damages can be examined
The repair work is expected to last until the middle of the week.
Customers are currently supplied via alternative circuits, explains Martens.
If the main cables are connected again to the network, “this will not lead to another interruption”.
Around 3,000 households in Weilheim and Wielenbach were affected by the power outage.
The error occurred at 2:14 p.m. and most customers were connected to the network again around 6 p.m.
Over the course of the evening, the last households were also supplied again.
On social media, some complained that devices were damaged after the power outage.
“In principle, you can report such damage,” says Martens.
It will then be checked whether an insured event has occurred.
“I cannot say to what extent this will lead to compensation in individual cases.”
