Gilles Le Borgne, director of engineering and development for the Boulogne group, told us on the eve of the results of the Car of the Year trophy.

Tuesday morning, at the Geneva Motor Show, returning to the sector calendar for the first time since 2019, the Renault Scenic E-Tech Electric was voted “Car of the Year 2024”.
In the ranks of the French manufacturer, engineers, designers and salespeople spoke of a deliverance but also of great pride for the company which has come a long way.
“You can’t imagine the importance of this title for us,” admitted Gilles Le Borgne.

Coming to join his teams on the podium, Luca de Meo said nothing else.
“When I arrived at
Renault
in 2020, it was the first complete project that I undertook
,” the general director of the French group explained to us.
This is the seventh time that Renault has won the most coveted title in the automobile industry, created in 1964. You had to go back to 2006 and the Clio to find a car from the manufacturer with this title.
This is the second time that the Scenic has won the supreme award.
If in 1997, the jury had praised the pioneering spirit of the French firm with the first compact minivan, this time, the jury made up of 59 European journalists, including yours truly, rewarded the homogeneity of the new generation of the Scenic become an electric SUV.
Soon on our roads, the new Scenic will only be available with an electric engine.
Its price will start from 39,990 euros with the 60 kWh battery allowing a range of 430 km.
A version equipped with an 87 kWh battery ensuring a range of 625 km completes the offer.
Until the end, the game remained very close with the BMW 5 Series. Finally, the Scenic was elected with 329 points, 21 points ahead of the German sedan.
These two models are ahead of the third generation of the Peugeot 3008 (197 points).
The large 7-seater electric SUV Kia EV9 ranks fourth with 190 points.
It is ahead of the Volvo EX30, the BYD Seal and the Toyota C-HR.
