Another controversial statement was made yesterday (Sunday) by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who wondered why in Israel they were "pressured", according to him, to reach a deal that would lead to the release of more hostages.
Yehuda Cohen, the father of the 19-year-old soldier Nimrod Cohen who was kidnapped by Hamas 142 days ago, was outraged by his words and sharply criticized the government's handling of the issue.
"Smotrich's words are simply brash," he claimed in an interview with 103FM.
"The soldiers and civilians were kidnapped because of the government's irresponsible conduct. If the government is unable to do this, please let them resign, let us go to the elections, and let there be a government here that can protect the country."
Later he added: "There are a bunch of dreamers sitting there who only know how to make statements. My son is not a used car. It is more important for the Prime Minister to continue fighting in order to survive politically, he does not care about these people."
