Mountain sports outfitter Salewa is saying goodbye to Aschheim, the company behind the Tempo handkerchiefs is moving: An overview of the company castling in the industrial area.

Aschheim – Some come, others go: There is a lot going on with businesses in Aschheim at the moment.

Which companies are moving in and which are moving away – an overview.

In front of the huge “Heads” office complex on Einsteinring, originally designed by the Rock Capital Group from Grünwald for the bankrupt financial service provider Wirecard, the construction workers are still busy working on the green areas.

The interior of the 42,000 square meter office park is already busy and the first new Wirecard tenants have moved into the Dornach industrial area.

And more will follow.

“The building complex is more than 40 percent rented,” reports Oguzhan Acay from the PR agency Scrivo.

In October, the Swedish hygiene paper manufacturer Essity moved its German headquarters from Ismaning to Aschheim and rented 8,500 square meters there.

Essity is backed by well-known brands such as Tempo handkerchiefs or Zewa kitchen rolls, but also medical products such as Leukoplast.

A subsidiary of the French bank Crédit Agricole (2,100 square meters), previously based in Oberhaching, has also already moved in.

Other companies will follow in mid-2024: the US technology company Bourns Electronics (1,500 square meters), which is currently still based in Taufkirchen, and the British chip manufacturer ARM (1,800 square meters).

In April, the in-house restaurant “Hungry Heads” will open on 1,300 square meters and will be operated by R+L Gastronomie GmbH.

The restaurant with lounge and striking plate wall will also be open to other building users and visitors.

Kita also offers space for Aschheim children

This openness also applies to the multi-award-winning crèche and daycare operator “hippo campus”, which will be offering child care on around 800 square meters from the end of 2024 - not only in-house for working parents there, but also for other Aschheim children if there are spaces available.

The operator brings over 30 years of experience from six other daycare centers in the Munich area and has already received several awards: as a family-friendly employer, for the nutritional concept and his educational projects.

“With hippo campus, we focus on bonding and education and support children in a family atmosphere,” explain Rebecca Hempen and Peg Schäfer, managing directors of the daycare centers.

Despite all this positive news, Aschheim also has to cope with company departures.

The Oberalp Group with the internationally renowned mountain and ski touring outfitters Salewa and Dynafit will be leaving the building complex on Saturnstrasse in April/May and moving into new quarters in Kiefersfelden, right on the border with Tyrol.

For the time being, only the outlet store, which is popular among alpine athletes (every Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.), will remain in Aschheim.

Salewa and Dynafit had been based in Aschheim since the late 1980s - similar to the Salewa Tower in Bolzano, Italy, the group had been planning a striking headquarters at the northern gateway to the Alps for years.

“Around 90 percent of the employees will move to the new location,” says Axel Brosch, General Manager Central Europe of the Oberalp Group.

Salewa/Dynafit will have around 100 employees in Kiefersfelden.

All employees who were part of the Oberalp Group before January 1, 2022 will receive financial support in the event of additional costs due to a move or a longer commute.

Regarding the subsequent use, Brosch says: “The Salewa outlet should remain, the office and storage space should be rented out.”

The ultra-modern factory district at Munich's Ostbahnhof is a magnet for many companies - including several from Aschheim.

The i8 building at Ostbahnhof is almost half rented - including to the FNZ-Bank (previously on Bahnhofstrasse in Dornach) and to the software manufacturer Synopsys (previously on Karl-Hammerschmidt-Strasse in Dornach).

A few meters further in the Dornach industrial park is the headquarters of the clothing retailer BestSecret.

which will move into another office location in the new i4 building at Munich Ostbahnhof.

“Dornach will continue to be the home of the BestSecret headquarters and the two retail stores,” emphasizes a company spokeswoman.

“As a rapidly growing company, the new office location in the Werksviertel in Munich is another international hub where different teams from Germany and Europe can come together – completely in line with our hybrid work culture.”
