The owner of one of the most exclusive mansions in Punta del Este was shot dead this morning and his ex-partner, with whom he had a son, was arrested for the crime.
Gonzalo Aguiar (46) was the owner of "La Maison", considered one of the most imposing properties in the Uruguayan spa city.
According to El País, the man had a strong argument with his ex-partner this morning, around 4 a.m. in the department of Maldonado.
It was the same woman, 26 years old, who called the police to report that Aguiar was injured in Mar de Coral and Mar Chiquita.
She had received a bullet in the chest and according to initial reports he died from hypoglycemic shock.
According to the story the woman gave to the police, her ex-partner entered her house after forcing a door and they had a heated argument.
In this context, always according to his story, he took a 9mm automatic pistol - which was in order - and shot him.
The shot hit Aguiar in the chest, who according to initial reports was not armed.
