Vancouver suits

Los Pumas 7's

very well .

The Argentine rugby team

once again became champion of the Sevens

of that city on the Canadian west coast, just as it had done in 2022 and 2023. The national team was relentless in the final against New Zealand, which they defeated 36-12 to win the third of the four stages contested in the world circuit of the specialty.

The

All Blacks

led 12-0 with tries from Joe Webber and Brady Rush, and a conversion from Akuila Rokolisoa within three minutes.

A test of temperament was needed and Argentina more than met it.

Because Marcos Moneta scored a try and Tobías Wade added the conversion, and just before the horn Luciano González scored the second try.

The complement was all from Los Pumas

due to a devastating attack and a defense that with pure tackle prevented the New Zealanders from relying on the light blue and white goal.

The figure of Matías Osadczuk was enormous with three tries, Matteo Graziano supported at the end and Wade punished with three conversions.

Luciano González, in Los Pumas 7's against New Zealand

Argentina reached the final against New Zealand undefeated in 17 games in Vancouver.

The last loss at BC Place Stadium had been on March 10, 2019, in the semifinals of the Silver Cup, against New Zealand, 26-21.

And he still hasn't lost there.

Los Pumas' passage through this tournament was relentless.

They won Group A with a 12-10 victory over Canada with tries from Santiago Mare and Rodrigo Isgró;

38-7 to Spain, with tries by Tobías Wade, Marcos Moneta, Isgró and Matteo Graziano;

and 24-19 to Fiji, with tries by Luciano González, Moneta and Germán Schulz.

In the quarterfinals they had to battle to beat Samoa 14-12.

The Oceanians took the lead with a try from Onosai and a conversion from Alofipo, but after 5 minutes Argentina equalized with a try from Moneta and a conversion from Wade.

The Pumas took advantage in the second half with a try by Matías Osadczuk and another conversion by Wade and Samoa scored for Sione.

Yesterday afternoon they played the semifinal against the United States and the performance was very good: 35-19.

There were tries from Osadczuk, Wade, Agustín Fraga and Joaquín Pellandini.

The Pumas thus won three of the four stages played on the world circuit.

The first competition of this season was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and the champion was South Africa after beating Argentina 12-7.

The second date was held in Cape Town, South Africa, and Los Pumas 7's won after beating Australia 45-12 in the final.

In the third they repeated the victory in Perth, where they beat the Australians 31-5.

And now they wiped out the All Blacks.

Argentina is the leader of the circuit with 78 points, 24 points ahead of Ireland and Fiji.

Further behind are New Zealand with 50 and Australia with 47. The great goal of Los Pumas 7's is the Paris Olympic Games, where they will seek the bronze medal obtained in Tokyo 2020.
