The Forbes list of the richest Germans has a new leader.
The title therefore moves from Baden-Württemberg to Hamburg.
Heilbronn – Until recently, Lidl founder Dieter Schwarz was considered the richest German.
According to a current wealth ranking by the business magazine
Forbes
, a man from the north has now pushed the entrepreneur from Heilbronn out of first place.
With an estimated fortune of 41.8 billion US dollars (38.6 billion euros), Klaus-Michael Kühne, a logistics entrepreneur from Hamburg, is at the top of the multi-billionaires.
In just 80 seconds, Dieter Schwarz earns the average German annual salary.
But his fortune has
“shrinked,” according to
Forbes .
According to estimates, the founder of Lidl and Kaufland now has 38 billion US dollars (35.1 billion euros), putting him in second place behind Klaus-Michael Kühne.
Last year, the magazine estimated his assets at 42.9 billion US dollars (39.6 billion euros).
Dieter Schwarz is no longer the richest German – estimates take changes on the stock market into account
Until now, Heilbronn patron Dieter Schwarz was considered the richest German with a fortune of almost 40 billion euros - now he has been overtaken.

Directly behind Schwarz is another well-known entrepreneur from Baden-Württemberg: Reinhold Würth from Künzelsau (Hohenlohekreis) and his family are in third place with assets of 27.5 billion US dollars (25.4 billion euros). The daily updates are based based on estimates and take into account both developments on the stock market and the diverse holdings of billionaires.

Klaus-Michael Kühne took over the logistics company Kühne + Nagel, co-founded by his grandfather, as CEO in 1966 and is now the majority owner.
According to
Forbes,
he also owns around 30 percent of the shipping and logistics company Hapag-Lloyd.
In 2022, he acquired a 17.5 percent stake in Lufthansa, making him its largest individual investor.

In contrast to Klaus-Michael Kühne, who does not shy away from publicity, Dieter Schwarz tends to stay in the background.
There are only a few photos of him.
Nevertheless, the 84-year-old entrepreneur is very present in his hometown of Heilbronn.
He founded the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, which primarily promotes science and research.
His group is one of the largest retail chains in the world and achieved sales of a good 154 billion euros in the last financial year.
