The title therefore moves from Baden-Württemberg to Hamburg.

Until now, Heilbronn patron Dieter Schwarz was considered the richest German with a fortune of almost 40 billion euros - now he has been overtaken.

Directly behind Schwarz is another well-known entrepreneur from Baden-Württemberg: Reinhold Würth from Künzelsau (Hohenlohekreis) and his family are in third place with assets of 27.5 billion US dollars (25.4 billion euros). The daily updates are based based on estimates and take into account both developments on the stock market and the diverse holdings of billionaires.

Klaus-Michael Kühne took over the logistics company Kühne + Nagel, co-founded by his grandfather, as CEO in 1966 and is now the majority owner.

Hamburg entrepreneur Klaus-Michael Kühne has overtaken Lidl and Kaufland founder Dieter Schwarz in the ranking of the richest Germans.

In contrast to Klaus-Michael Kühne, who does not shy away from publicity, Dieter Schwarz tends to stay in the background.

There are only a few photos of him.

Nevertheless, the 84-year-old entrepreneur is very present in his hometown of Heilbronn.

He founded the Dieter Schwarz Foundation, which primarily promotes science and research.

His group is one of the largest retail chains in the world and achieved sales of a good 154 billion euros in the last financial year.
