Braunschweig - Three people were seriously injured in an accident on Autobahn 2 near Braunschweig during the night.
At around 1:30 a.m., a 50-year-old driver drove his car into a tractor-trailer, the police said on Monday.
The car rolled over and ended up on its roof.
The driver and two other passengers, aged 60 and 23, were seriously injured in the accident between the Braunschweig-Ost and Braunschweig-Airport junctions.
According to police, the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol.
This is being investigated.
The road towards Hanover was closed;
a traffic jam formed.
In connection with this, two cars collided.
But there were no injuries.
The road had to be cleaned due to leaking fluids.
The closures were lifted again in the afternoon.
