The schools in Garching will be equipped with digital boards.

The city is investing 500,000 euros for this.

Garching – The city of Garching is spending around 500,000 euros for digital boards that will be installed in the four schools.

The main and finance committee has now decided this.

“We can’t get by,” said Mayor Dietmar Gruchmann (SPD).

Digital teaching is becoming increasingly important in schools.

Therefore, the city schools, including the middle school and the East, West and Hochbrück elementary schools, want interactive boards in every classroom, according to the administration.

Replacement is absolutely necessary

Many classrooms already have interactive boards with projectors.

“These are at least between ten and twelve years old,” said town hall employee Florian Cygan.

They are causing ever greater problems and would have to be replaced in order to ensure proper teaching.

Teachers are now largely preparing for digital lessons.

Due to the structural situation in the East primary school, only mobile devices are provided there.

A manual two-column pylon system with a board is planned for the middle school, and a manual double pylon system with a board is planned for the West and Hochbrück elementary schools.

The coordination was carried out with the principals and system administrators of the schools.

As the material expenditure provider, the city is responsible for supplying the school with the appropriate hardware.

There are currently no subsidies from the Ministry of Culture.

20 devices are planned for the middle school, seven devices for the Hochbrück elementary school, 15 devices for the West elementary school and 13 devices for the East elementary school.

A device costs around 9,000 euros including installation, cable and holder - with 55 digital boards that costs the city around half a million euros.

The estimate is based on the price the high school paid for panels.
