160 tonnes of cereals from Ukraine destroyed: this is the result of a protest action carried out by Polish farmers this Sunday February 25, according to kyiv.
Eight wagons of corn from the country at war were opened and their contents dumped on a railway track.
The incident took place in Kotomierz, almost 300 km northwest of Warsaw.
For several weeks, Polish farmers have been demonstrating against imports of Ukrainian agricultural cargo.
To economically support the country at war, the European Union lifted customs duties on its imports.
A measure accused of causing low prices and unfair competition by European farmers.
In protest, Polish farmers block roads and border crossings with Ukraine.
“We must close the rail and road border (with Ukraine) for the import of all these cereals to limit the consequences of the current crisis.
We need to be able to sell our products and not those from abroad,” explains Adam Grzechnik, a Polish farmer.
