The planned Wallgau small sports hall has an interesting look.

The fretwork below the roof is particularly significant.

Whenever the small sports hall is built in Wallgau, the look is already unparalleled in the district.

The Laubender architectural firm from Bad Heilbrunn impressed the local council with a wooden mesh construction.

Wallgau

– In the tradition-conscious Wallgau, great attention is paid to local architecture.

Aesthetic wild growths are frowned upon by the local council.

The committee should be all the more pleased with the facade of the planned small sports hall - lots of wood gives the functional building a real barn-style charm.

This is also ensured by the unusual wooden construction in the upper part.

Second Mayor Bernhard Wilde (voters association) describes it as a “hunter’s fence”.

He doesn't say that in a derogatory way.

He just can't think of the right technical term.

“Bundwerk” says expert Michael Laubender from the Bad Heilbrunner architectural firm of the same name.

“We based ourselves on the traditional construction method and reinterpreted it.” Laubender thinks that it is “simple and not historicizing”.

There's a lot of brainpower behind it.

“We really put a lot of thought and work into it.” The architect commissioned by the municipality speaks of around 30 variants that were drawn.

On Thursday, the Stadel version received its blessing from the Wallgau local council - unanimously 13-0.

Even Wilde, who was initially a “hunter’s fence” skeptic, “now likes it quite a bit”.

Florian Holzer (CSU) speaks of “relatively well-rounded and sensible planning”.

Especially since Laubender and Co. wisely avoided modern experiments this time.

The people of Heilbrunner still remember the bankruptcy in the Krüner municipal council only too well, when the planned school extension with the green flat roof suffered shipwreck.

In Wallgau it should be a gable roof made of sheet metal, albeit with a slight slope.

A building that follows the “Wallgau timber construction tradition” and that “does not harbor any lofty architectural fantasies,” explains Michael Laubender.

His design is now moving to the next stage.

After the unanimous vote of the local council, they now want to apply for funding from the government of Upper Bavaria.

Because the small sports hall with a wooden facade costs a lot of money.

There is now a world of difference between the first cost estimate three years ago (around 2 million euros) and the current one (around 4.5 million euros).

“This increase in costs is enormous,” emphasizes local councilor Dr.

Johann Neuner (voters association. “This will be a show of strength for Wallgau.” For Neuner’s parliamentary group colleague Wolfgang Behling, the motto for raising money can only be: “Take everything you can.”

According to the mayor, the optimum has already been achieved with regard to the required distances from neighboring properties.

“We can no longer build bigger or higher,” emphasizes Bastian Eiter (voters’ association).

His administration will soon apply for funding from higher authorities.

“I have no idea how long something like that takes.” After all, it’s not every day that a village mayor builds a sports hall.

But Bastian Eiter is cautiously optimistic and assumes that the basement and shell construction can begin this fall.

“But at the latest in spring 2025.”
