The Ebenhausen maypole company has brought in this year's maypole - and overcome bottlenecks with millimeter work.

Ebenhausen – Bringing down the Ebenhausen maypole was like a crime thriller.

In order to bring the 35.30 meter long spruce tree to its place at the guard hut opposite the Gasthof zur Post, it took more than just a sense of proportion.

Everyone involved was all the more relieved when it was announced at 10:07 a.m. that the 2024 maypole had reached its destination at the storage site undamaged.

At exactly 8.30 a.m., after the first drumbeats of the “homeland”, the procession set off from the Zeller Kircherl.

At the front there was the Irschenhauser brass band, then the tractor with the maypole in tow, and finally the boys and girls of the maypole society along with many spectators who didn't want to miss the spectacle.

Those responsible had decided not to sit on the trunk when retrieving.

“The path is simply too steep,” explains senior boy Timo Hochwind (25).

After all, we don't want anything to happen to the tree or to the members of the Maypole Society.

The donor of the 78-year-old spruce is again “Wehnerbauer” Martin Schmid

Shortly before the turn of the year, the 78-year-old spruce tree was felled.

The donor is again “Wehnerbauer” Martin Schmid.

He, the Schäftlarn Monastery, the Marxnhof and Gut Holzen take turns every five years.

The train has now arrived at the war memorial when it essentially has to make a forced stop.

The reason for this is red: a fire hydrant is blocking the way.

“The municipal utilities are already on the way,” reassures Mayor Christian Fürst, who, as a former wedding host, insisted on accompanying the transport.

True to the motto “If it doesn’t fit, it will be made to fit,” and things continue fifteen minutes later: the fire hydrant has been dismantled, as has a bus stop sign, and the B11 is closed.

Advantage: Given the enormous effort involved, the maypole is not that easy to steal

What comes next is pure millimeter work.

Because in order to master the hairpin curve, full concentration is required.

“It's okay... it's okay... Hoit!”, combined with various hand signals, can be heard again and again.

“But it does have one advantage,” said one viewer, considering the enormous effort that everyone helped with, “It’s not that easy to steal.”
