Once again, Günther Jauch has to deal with a technical problem during the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” recording – but this time the production is not to blame.

Hürth – On Monday evening (February 26, 2024), Günther Jauch (67) was able to invite a wide variety of candidates to his place again.

Everyone came with the goal of cracking the one million euro question and leaving the RTL show as a millionaire.

One of these WWM candidates was Rüdiger Matthews, who ultimately failed because of the 125,000 euro question.

On his way there, even the director had to intervene.

Sound problem with “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”: Technology has to intervene during RTL recording

TV mishaps happen every now and then: RTL recently suffered a glitch during the first live broadcast of “Let's Dance” and the private broadcaster switched to advertising prematurely, even though they actually wanted to show the candidate phone numbers.

Even with the quiz show “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”, which is still very popular today, not everything runs smoothly – RTL viewers repeatedly witness smaller or larger glitches.

When “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” candidate Rüdiger Matthews successfully answers the 1,000 euro question, the director’s voice suddenly sounds in the studio: “We have to get to the candidate’s microphone very quickly.”

Moderator Günther Jauch then looks directly at his counterpart and comments: “Oh, yes.

“Has it become independent?”

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” not only a hit in Germany – TV show with numerous spin-offs

“Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” has not only been a real ratings hit in this country for years, the TV show, which originally came from Great Britain (there: “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?”), has also developed into a real mass phenomenon internationally.

The quiz show has been licensed in over 100 countries worldwide, including Albania, Austria, Belgium, Turkey, the Netherlands, Italy, Vietnam, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland.

The program sequence, the optics and the music are often almost identical.

WWM candidate puffs too much: Günther Jauch confused about stage directions

But the problem is not with the technology: the candidate himself is to some extent to blame, as the director says: “Yes, there is a lot of breath in there,” to which candidate Rüdiger Matthews agrees with amusement: “I breathe too much.”

Günther Jauch seems a bit confused about this.

“It’s wheezing?

What is the microphone supposed to do when he breathes?” replies the moderator, visibly irritated.

Then he adds dryly: “Anti-snort microphones.” With this, the showmaster secures a few laughs from the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” audience.

Compared to past breakdowns, the sound problem from the current broadcast seems relatively harmless.

Just recently, Günther Jauch had to deal with a series of mishaps during the “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” recording.
