In these 10 episodes, Juliette Binoche confronts a host of actors, starting with Ben Mendelsohn, who plays Christian Dior, then a rising star of haute couture.

But the casting does not stop there and includes several French actors like Hugo Becker, Zabou Breitman and Charles Berling.
And as Mohamed Bouhafsi points out on the set of “C à vous”, everyone complied with the game of shooting the scenes in English.
The accent was also a question: British or American.

And it was Todd A. Kessler, the writer and director of the series, who explained to the France 5 show their way of proceeding.
“We discussed what a Coco who spoke English would be like.
Coco's English teachers were British, so she had a British accent and this is also the case for Juliette when she speaks English
,” said the creator of
The New Look
.
“She couldn’t have an American accent”
And while the interview is broadcast on the set and on the screen, Juliette Binoche does not seem to agree with Todd A. Kessler's comments.
Thanks to the camera fixing her on the set, viewers were able to observe that she frowned and shook her head “no”.

“in fact at the start, when we spoke together with Ben and Todd, they asked me which accent went best and I said that we had to speak American because it's a series.
And then in fact, when we studied the life of Coco Chanel - who had been with the Duke of Westminster for 7 years - she couldn't have an American accent.
So that’s when the actress chose an English accent.
