Geretsried

– With numerous celebrities, optimistic speeches, Bavarian brass music and a Bavarian buffet, the CSU local branch in Geretsried celebrated its 70th anniversary on Sunday in the Gasthof Geiger.

The success story of the local association can be read in a 90-page commemorative publication written by Michael Müller.

While the bloc of expellees and disenfranchised people (BHE) made up the majority in the council in the first few years after the community was founded, the local CSU, founded in 1954 under Waldemar Kölling, gradually caught up.

In 1970 it drew level with the SPD, and in 1978 it achieved an absolute majority.

In 1986 the party appointed Gerhard Hasreiter as mayor for the first time.

Anniversary as an opportunity to move into the future with courage and confidence

Müller, a Christian Socialist, has been in power again since 2014.

The party still holds the majority in the city council, even if only the simple one.

The elected officials could always count on a strong local association to support them.

“Of course we also had our trials and tribulations.

But that’s part of the political game of power,” Müller admitted in his speech.

He has been a member of the local association for 37 years.

During this time he was able to experience great thinkers and doers.

Thanks to the CSU, Geretsried is no longer just a town for displaced people, but rather an economically important, up-and-coming municipality.

“Let us take the 70th anniversary as an opportunity to move into the future with courage and confidence,” said the mayor.

He had previously been expressly praised by Dr.

Edmund Stoiber for his “courage to adapt the structure of this city to the future”.

A little anecdote on the side: Because wife Karin is apparently still a bit strange with the Neue Mitte, especially when it comes to parking, Third Mayor Gerhard Meinl gave her a voucher for a personal tour of the center with him and the First Mayor.

In his laudatory speech for the local association, Stoiber highlighted the national political importance of the CSU.

Although she only runs for elections in Bavaria, she advocates for Bavaria throughout Germany and Europe.

Thanks to the People's Party, Bavaria has developed from what was once the poorest federal state in the Federal Republic of Germany into the richest today, he said.

Franz Josef Strauss' commitment to Bavaria as an aviation location and his, Stoiber's, high-tech offensive contributed to this.

Stoiber on Putin: I let him deceive me

The former Prime Minister “didn’t just want to complain about the current situation,” but of course he addressed it.

He said he met Russian President Vladimir Putin about twelve times during his active professional career: “I admit, I was also deceived by him.”

Stoiber clearly demanded that Germany must do everything to help Ukraine.

You also have to invest in your own defense.

A European army should be the goal.

Stoiber described the decision to phase out nuclear energy under Angela Merkel “for purely ideological reasons” as “madness”.

As a result, Germany now has an energy problem and many companies are moving away.

He welcomed the demonstrations against the AfD, but emphasized that “right-wing” is not the same as “right-wing extremist”.

One of the AfD's many demands, which he finds completely out of the question, is to move away from the EU.

“There is no other way than the European one,” said the Wolfratshauser.

The almost hour-long historical and political outline was met with much applause.

Meinl gave Stoiber a book with Loriot speeches, including some that the great humorist from Münsing gave in the district.
