"There has been some improvement in the authorization times (of renewable energy plants, ed.), but not as much as there should be to achieve the objectives. And then there is still a lack of regulation regarding the market, on the price at which operators can see the energy ".
The vice-president of Erg, Alessandro Garrone, said this at a conference on the Pniec, the national energy plan, organized in the Chamber by the Ecco think tank.
"In Italy in 2023, 5.7 renewable gigawatts were installed - continued Garrone -, of which 0.5 Gw of wind power, the rest solar. But of these, only 1.2 Gw were large 'utility scale' plants. The rest were suite plants thanks to 110%. These increase the production of renewables, but do not allow us to reach the 2030 objectives
. According to the Pniec we should install 10 gigawatts per year. If we project this trend from now to 2030, we remain far behind".
"Progress has been made on authorizations, but slowness still exists - continued Garrone -. In 2023, Germany installed 17 gigawatts of renewables, of which 3 were wind and 14 were solar. And I'm not talking about Holland, Sweden or China. But why in Germany can do it and we can't do it?".
According to the vice-president of Erg, "in Italy we are still here discussing energy prices at auctions, while all countries (Germany, France, United Kingdom) have already adjusted them. The cost of producing energy from renewable sources has increased, we have had we too have green inflation. We are at 90 - 100 euros per megawatt hour, but in Italy the price at auctions is still at 75 euros per megawatt hour. We must give up building plants because they would have a negative return."
"We have been waiting for the Fer ".
