A trial has begun before the Munich II Regional Court in which a couple of parents are suing the owner of a pony for 25,000 euros in compensation.

Her eight-year-old daughter was hit by the animal's hindquarters while running and was seriously injured in the face.

It is unclear whether the owner warned the girl and her friends before entering the area.

Actually, the children shouldn't have gone to the run with Cookie and her foal.

But the pony and his little one were so cute that the six to eight year olds couldn't resist and suddenly found themselves in the paddock - with serious consequences.

A girl was hit in the face by the pony's hindquarters and seriously injured.

The parents sued the owner for 25,000 euros in compensation and all subsequent treatment costs.

Yesterday the proceedings took place before the Munich II Regional Court.

The accident occurred in June 2022. Since then, the injured girl has had to undergo numerous operations.

The doctors have now inserted four plates and 22 screws, as well as a facial mesh that grows with the child and has to be replaced with a mesh when he becomes an adult.

It is not yet possible to predict how the experience has affected the little soul.

Therefore, the lawsuit also includes a claim for declaratory judgment for all consequential damages in the future.

The presiding judge would have liked to convince both sides of a settlement - just to spare the children an interrogation.

“I try to keep children out of the courtroom,” said she, herself the mother of a six-year-old daughter.

But apparently it was disputed whether the sued mother had expressly forbidden the children from going into the run in front of the horse boxes because Pony Cookie had a foal and would react more irritably to lively children.

In fact, the mother had left her daughter and her friends alone after the instruction.

For the judge, this was a clear case of breach of supervisory duty.

The animal liability insurance company had probably also recognized this and had not paid a cent in compensation to date.

The judge suggested going to the judge.

Everyone involved really sits there together and discusses things.

Both sides asked for time to think about it.
