US President Biden hopes that there will be a ceasefire in Gaza by Monday.

New York - US President Joe Biden spoke on comedian Seth Meyers' talk show about a possible solution to the Gaza war.
“There is a path forward, with difficulties,” said Biden (81) in the broadcast recorded on Monday.

“My national security adviser tells me we are close,” Biden said while eating ice cream in New York with Meyers.

However, it is uncertain whether international mediators will be able to negotiate an agreement on a new hostage exchange by then.

Biden saw an early ceasefire - in connection with the release of hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners - as an important step towards peace in the Middle East.
“I think if we get that - a temporary ceasefire, we will be able to move in a direction where we can change the dynamic,” Biden said.
